What Comes Around Goes Around

Last week I went to visit my brother in law who was in the hospital.  His hospital stay was an un planned visit from which he was expected to make a full recovery.  He asked me if I would go to the bank and post office to pay some of his end of the month bills.  I was happy to agree.
As he rattled off instructions, he commented that he needed to pay his credit card off too because he had been “racking up the charges”.  He explained that August was his birthday month and he gave himself buying many “birthday” items without realizing the extent of his purchases.
Now here is where the fun starts.  For you see, in my head, my little judge came out and thought “he can’t afford that”. “that wasn’t a good decision”, “he will never be good with money”, “I would never do that”. Imagine, all of those thoughts in my head faster than I could blink an eye!  I put them aside, got detailed directions and was happy to complete my mission.  I thought that was the end of it.
As it turns out, this is MY birthday month.  I used that excuse to buy a gorgeous gazing ball that I have had my eye on for a year now, to go to more expensive restaurants and to schedule some beauty treatments. I was looking at my gazing ball yesterday and it hit me “I was doing the same thing I judged him for”.
After I made a whole bunch of excuses about how my judging was different, I had to laugh at myself and here’s what I noticed.
Every time I judge someone, and I believe it, I attract that experience into my life so that I can:
  • feel what it is like from the other side
  • have compassion and understanding
  • be reminded that I am no better or worse than everyone else
I could decide to never judge again, but human nature and society are based on ranking and comparing so I judge before I even know it.  What I am realizing, is that the trick is to recognize I am making a judgement and then remind myself that it is a judgement not a “truth”.  Once I stop believing the judgement, it isn’t attracted to me anymore.  Instead, I am committing to have time to admire what is working for people and bring more of what works for me to my life.
Whatever you are realizing or want help releasing, join me for the crystal bowls.  Their vibrations will loosen energy that keeps you stuck and opens up the door for magic and new possibilities.
